Innovation Maturity Self Assessment

The Innovation Management Maturity Assessment (IMMA) is a tool for an organization to determine its maturity level in terms of innovation management capabilities. IMMA is focused on evaluating ten Innovation management focus areas, and is inspired by the approach of the Capability maturity model integration. It is also in alignment with the format of the self-assessment tool achieve sustained success. The tool can be used to establish the current maturity level of the organization to identify gaps and actions, e.g. to start implementing an innovation management system.

The Innovation Maturity Assessment has been designed to give you a holistic understanding of your current end-to-end innovation capability. The self-assessment will take you through a comprehensive series of questions representative of each area of the framework.The organizational capabilities evaluated during the maturity

Each capability is rated based on the response to a set of questions approximately characterizing each of the focus areas above. The online survey instrument requires the team to rate their understanding on a scale of 1– 5. The average of the scores of the 4 members is taken as a collective response of the organization to the question. The sum of scores for each question is then used to rate the capability area. The capability is not established or established in an informal or ad hoc manner. It is not defined or managed.

Managed at basic level- the capability is established at a basic level. It is to some extent, but not fully, managed.

Defined and managed – The capability is defined and established. It is managed in a pro-active manner.

Systematically managed – The capability is defined, established, and aligned. It is systematically and dynamically managed.

Optimized The capability is continuously improved and optimized. It is managed based on active monitoring, feedback, and learning.

Assessment Process

IDENTIFY & TRAIN THE TEAM

During this step, 4 of the core team of innovation are provided a detailed overview of the intent of the questions, grading scale being used, and the rating mechanism. In addition, we also provide access to the online survey instrument and how the same can be used.

TEAM TO TAKE THE ONLINE SURVEY

Each of the team members undertake the survey online, and the results are reviewed offline by an experienced consultant / advisor from QGLUE.

SPONSOR RECEIVES REPORT & FINDINGS

The final step of the process is to provide a detailed report on the findings by specific process areas, and specific practices which can be used by the organization to draw the action plans for making their innovation system ready for scaling the innovation efforts across the enterprise.

Assessment Output

Once completed, the innovation assessment report provides an answer to the question –
Where am I currently at in the innovation journey?

The report details the information in the sections given below:

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

The report provides a summary of scores and findings by focus area consolidated at an organization level.
The scores are then rolled up across the areas to determine the Innovation maturity level rating for the
organization.

INNOVATION MATURITY SCORECARD

This section provides the summary of vital indicators on focus areas involved in the assessment.

This section provides overall all organization wide score and
score by focus areas.

SUGGESTIONS ON THE WAY FORWARD

Once completed, we will suggest next steps in how to address the specific issues at the strategic level. In many cases, the next step is simply to run an innovation sprint in 4-5 days where we help you define your innovation mission map and vision coupled with your innovation strategy blueprint.
